Alan is teaming up with long-standing compadre Julian Colbeck from Keyfax NewMedia on a major DVD project looking at modern-day recording practices.
The DVD, provisionally entitled The Complete Guide To Modern Recording, will be looking at the whole process of recording - from pre-production, gear, arrangements, tracking, mixing, and more – from the twin perspectives of someone who was ‘there then’ (multi-million dollar recording studios and budgets the size of small European countries) and is still ‘here now’ (sophisticated computer-based environments you can set up in your living room).
What lessons from traditional recording practices can be applied to this new paradigm? What has changed? What has stayed the same? And where are my socks? Answers to these and other crucial issues will be explored in this multi DVD set slated for release in the fall of 2008.
